He verified the winning ticket this afternoon at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover. John Binczewski, spokesperson for the group, said the prize will be shared with 16 of his coworkers, comprising 14 other union sheet metal workers from Local 19 and two secretaries. Each member of the group was awarded $4,264.83, which represents a $5,882.52 share of a $100,003 prize, minus $1,617.69 for federal tax. The group purchased POWERBALL® tickets for Wednesday's drawing in a cooperative effort. The group's winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased at Sunoco A-Plus Mini Mart on Philadelphia Pike in Claymont. Binczewski said he learned they had won when he saw the winning POWERBALL® numbers on television Wednesday night. "Right away I noticed one of our tickets matched all five winning white numbers, but not the POWERBALL® number," he explained. "It was very exciting, I couldn't wait to tell the group." While he was not sure what other group members planned to do with their winnings, John said he planned to bank half and spend the remainder on roof repairs and a new golf club. When asked if the group planned on purchasing POWERBALL® tickets for Saturday's $280 million dollar POWERBALL® drawing, Binczewski said, "Yes, all 17 original group members, plus one additional person, are going to buy tickets as a group again. In fact, when I leave here we're going back to stand in line." According to Delaware Lottery Officials, two $100,000 prizes remain unclaimed for the May 12 and August 18 POWERBALL® drawings.
