ANGELIQUE RIVERA CLAIMS $100,000 POWERBALL® PRIZE FOR AUGUST 25 DRAWING

DOVER, DE - Twenty-three-year-old Angelique Rivera of Camden, N.J. claimed one of the five remaining $100,000 POWERBALL® prizes from the Saturday, August 25 drawing yesterday afternoon (August 27) at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.  Rivera, a dispatcher in Camden, was awarded $72,000, which represents her $100,000 prize minus $28,000 for federal tax.

She purchased her winning Quick Pick ticket last Friday night (August 24) at 7-Eleven on Memorial Drive in New Castle. "I had to wait in line for about 25 minutes, but it was well worth the wait," the winner said. "I learned I had won when my fiancÈ checked the Delaware Lottery's Web site, delottery.com, for the winning numbers on Sunday morning. At first, I thought he was kidding, but then I realized he wasn't. I couldn't wait to claim my prize." Rivera does not have any specific plans for the prize money.

According to Delaware Lottery Officials, four $100,000 prizes remain unclaimed from the August 25 drawing. The winning numbers for the August 25 drawing were 08, 17, 22, 42 and 47 for the white numbers and 21 for the red POWERBALL® number. There also are two other $100,000 POWERBALL® prizes that remain unclaimed for the May 12 and August 18 POWERBALL® drawings. Prizes may be claimed up to one year from the date of the drawing.

The POWERBALL® jackpot for Wednesday, August 29, 2001, has an estimated annuity value worth $10 million. Tickets for POWERBALL cost $1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery On-Line Retailers.
