RETIRED DUPONT EMPLOYEE CLAIMS $358,000 LOTTO PRIZE

DOVER, DE - A 70-year-old woman from Laurel, DE, claimed the September 28, 2001, All Cash Lotto jackpot prize of $358,000 with her husband yesterday afternoon (October 1) at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover.  The woman, who wishes to remain anonymous, was awarded $259,550, which represents her $358,000 prize minus $98,450 for federal tax.  

She purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket the day of the drawing (September 28) at Deluxe Dairy Market #4 in Laurel.  "Actually, my dog, Scagsy, is the reason why I purchased the ticket on Friday.  She loves to ride in the car and she really wanted to go for a ride.  If it wasn't for her, I don't think I would've purchased the ticket," the winner explained.  She learned her ticket was the winner when she checked the winning numbers in the newspaper the day after the drawing.  "I was in such shock I checked the numbers on the ticket about 100 times!"

"The first thing I plan to do with my prize money is buy a new car," she said.  "In fact, my husband and I are going to go to the car dealership on our way home."  The winner said she and her husband play Delaware Lottery games often and will continue playing Lottery games.  

As of October 1, 2001, a $258,000 All Cash Lotto jackpot prize remains unclaimed from the August 27, 2001 drawing.  Lottery records indicate it was sold at Shore Stop #10 on Lebanon Road.  The winning numbers were 03, 05, 10, 12, 21 and 27. Prizes may be claimed up to one year from the date of the drawing.   

The All Cash Lotto jackpot for Wednesday, October 3, 2001, has an all-cash value of $160,000.  Tickets for All Cash Lotto cost $1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery On-Line Retailers.
