ACME EMPLOYEE WINS $100,000 POWERBALL® PRIZE

DOVER, DE - A 43-year-old woman from Wilmington claimed an October 31, 2001, POWERBALL® $100,000 prize this afternoon at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover. The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, was awarded $72,500, which represents her $100,000 prize minus $27,500 for federal tax.

The woman, an employee at Acme Supermarket on Foulk and Naamans Road, purchased her POWERBALL® ticket at Acme on Monday (October 29). Her winning Quick Pick ticket matched five of six winning numbers.

"I found out I won when I called the Player Information number this morning," the winner said. "I was completely stunned when I realized what I had won. I called my friend right away to tell him the good news," she explained.
Currently the winner does not have any plans for her winnings, but she does plan to continue playing Delaware Lottery Games.

The POWERBALL® jackpot for Saturday, November 3, 2001, has an estimated annuity value of $51 million. Tickets for POWERBALL cost $1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery On-Line Retailers.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.1 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, All Cash Lotto, Rolldown®, PLAY 3 and PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.

The Delaware Lottery today announced completion of the first phase of its Retailer Accessibility Process, based on its obligations under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1992 and Lottery Rules and Regulations.
