NEWARK MAN WINS DE LOTTERY'S 10TH FASTEST FINGERS COMPETITION

DOVER, DE - Jason Doody, 27, of Newark, just took home $1,000 after winning the Delaware Lottery's 10th Fastest Fingers championship yesterday in Dover. Doody, who manages the News Basket store in Bear, was one of fifteen terminal-operator finalists from Lottery Retail stores across the state. Contest finalists completed a speed test to determine which terminal operator could produce more than $30 worth of lottery tickets in the shortest time. Doody's winning time was 50:66 seconds.

"Fastest Fingers is a fun, exciting competition for our dedicated Retailers," said Brian Peters, director of Sales and Marketing, Delaware State Lottery. "It's a great way for our Lottery staff to recognize the retail employees whose hard work helps us to generate revenue for the State's General Fund while raising awareness of the Lottery and its products among players."

The top five championship winners received cash prizes. Ranked in order from second to fifth places (winnings include prize money from the preliminary round): Brad Alwood of the Daily Market in Lewes, $475; Larry Newsome of Larry's Liquors in Dover, $325; Amy Holcomb of Thriftway in Wilmington, $150; and Thad Twyford of Dover Newsstand in Dover, $100. More than 150 retail clerks competed last week to be one of the five finalists from each county invited to compete in the championship round held at Paradiso's Restaurant in Dover.

The Delaware Lottery's Fastest Fingers contest is designed to benefit Lottery Retailers and clerks by recognizing the skills and knowledge of those who sell Lottery products on a daily basis. There are more than 440 Lottery Retailers in Delaware.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.1 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games including POWERBALL®, the fastest-growing multimillion-dollar jackpot game; LOTTO; Rolldown®, Play 3 and Play 4; and a variety of Instant Games.
