GROUP OF 30 COWORKERS CLAIMS $100,000 POWERBALL® PRIZE
DOVER, DE -Thirty employees of the
Silverside Carr Executive Center in Wilmington claimed a $100,000
POWERBALL® prize from the March 20 drawing at the Delaware
Lottery Office in Dover this morning.
A woman from North Wilmington, spokesperson for the group, said
the prize will be divided up among the 30 coworkers. The group
received a check for $73,000, which represents their $100,000
prize minus $27,000 for federal tax. Each group member will receive
a portion of the prize based on their contribution to the company's
office pool.
The coworkers, who purchase tickets together for each POWERBALL®
drawing, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket the day of
the drawing at Claymont News. "Our group has been playing
POWERBALL® on a regular basis for about five years now,"
the spokesperson explained. "We've won in the past, but never
the $100,000 prize. It's very exciting."
She learned they had won when she called the Player Information
line. Currently, the winners are not sure what they will do with
their portion of the prize; however, they do plan to continue
playing POWERBALL® as a group for every drawing.
The POWERBALL® jackpot for Wednesday, March 27 has an estimated
annuity value of $48 million. Tickets for POWERBALL® cost
$1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery On-Line Retailers.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has
contributed more than $1.1 billion to the state's General Fund
to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in
Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®,
LOTTO, Rolldown®, PLAY 3 and PLAY 4, and assorted Instant
Games.
