NJ BROTHER AND SISTER CLAIM $100,000 PRIZE SET TO EXPIRE MAY 12

DOVER, DE -A brother and sister from Essex County, New Jersey, claimed a May 12, 2001, $100,000 POWERBALL® prize this morning at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover. Their prize was set to expire next week. The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, split their $100,000 prize equally and each received $36,500 after taxes.

The brother and sister, who play POWERBALL together often, purchased their winning ticket at 7-11 on Basin Road in New Castle. Their Quick Pick ticket matched five of six winning numbers.

"We found out we won about a week after the drawing when our father checked the winning numbers," the winners explained. "We waited until now to claim the prize because we had a lot of goals we wanted to accomplish before collecting it. Plus, it was important that we determine what to do with our winnings." For now, the winners plan to take a small vacation.

When asked if the winners plan to continue playing Delaware Lottery Games they said, "Absolutely."

The POWERBALL jackpot for Saturday, May 4, 2002 has an estimated annuity value of $54 million. Tickets for POWERBALL® cost $1 and are available at more than 400 Delaware Lottery Retailers.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.3 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL, LOTTO, PLAY 3 and PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
