LOTTO JACKPOT HITS ALL-TIME HIGH
DOVER, DE --Tomorrow's LOTTO jackpot-with
an estimated value of $3.055 million-is the largest ever in the
history of this Delaware Lottery game.
Delaware Lottery Director Wayne Lemons notes that record-setting
jackpots are fun not only for players but everyone associated with
the Lottery. "It's exciting for all of us: players, Retailers
and Lottery employees," he said. At the same time, he urged
people to play responsibly by not spending more than they can afford
on lottery tickets.
If this LOTTO jackpot is won, it will be the largest prize awarded
in the game since its start in 1983. The largest cash LOTTO jackpot
to date, worth $2.275 million, was won in January 2000. The previous
LOTTO jackpot record-for an annuity with the prize money paid in
yearly installments-was set by a $3 million annuity jackpot won
in February 1992.
Tickets for Lotto cost $1 and are available at all Delaware Lottery
Retailers. Drawings are held Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at
7:57 p.m. and can be viewed at delottery.com.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has
contributed more than $1.4 billion to the state's General Fund to
help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware.
The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, LOTTO, PLAY
3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games. More information is available
