LEWES WOMAN WINS BETTY BOOP JUKEBOX

DOVER, DE --Elizabeth Pusey of Lewes claimed a Betty Boop* jukebox - the grand prize in the Delaware Lottery BETTY BOOP Instant Game - at a special drawing event held October 2 at Dover Downs.

Four first prizes - custom Betty Boop leather jackets - also were awarded. The winners were Martin Davis of Wilmington, Cora Jones of Dover, Denise Anacay of Bear, and Carl Pezzullo of Newark. Pusey and Jones were among 38 (out of 54) second-chance winners present for the drawing. Attendees had a chance to meet the cartoon icon in person and receive a souvenir photo of themselves with "Betty Boop."

Delaware Lottery Deputy Director Brian Peters, who was present for the event, said that it is always gratifying to be there when a player finds out they've won. "We work hard to create products that provide fun and excitement for players, and it is nice to share in these winning moments. The Delaware Lottery offers its congratulations to all our BETTY BOOP Instant Game winners."

A homemaker with two children, 36 year-old Pusey sent in about six tickets in for the drawing. An occasional Lottery player, she bought her grand prize-winning ticket at the Daily Market in Lewes. Jones, 48, works at Kraft Foods and has two children and four grandchildren. A regular Lottery player, she buys her tickets at the Dover Super Soda & Deli.

Fifty-four second chance winners - individuals whose tickets were drawn on September 22 at the Lottery Office - were invited with a guest to the drawing. Each received a prize package featuring official Betty Boop licensed products including a limited edition framed serial color print, piano music box, motion wristwatch, collector's pen and tin, t-shirt and beach towel.

The BETTY BOOP Instant Game was very popular with Delaware Lottery players. It went on sale at nearly 500 Delaware Lottery Retailers in April and closed August 31, 2003. Ticket holders have until August 31, 2004 to claim their prizes. Both of the $5,000 top cash prizes in the game have been claimed.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than $1.6 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, LOTTO, PLAY 3 and PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
