WINNING TICKET FOR FINAL LOTTO JACKPOT SOLD IN HARRINGTON, DELAWARE

Dover, DE -- Delaware Lottery officials announced this morning that the winning ticket for Wednesday night’s final LOTTO jackpot was sold at the Bridle Bit in Harrington, Sussex County, Delaware. The single winning ticket that matched all six numbers drawn is worth $7,785,490. The person holding the winning ticket has a full year to have it validated by the Lottery and claim the jackpot. The winning numbers were 1, 8, 13, 27, 35 and 37.

According to Wayne Lemons, director of the Delaware Lottery, ticket sales for the final day of LOTTO set an all-time record for the 22-year old game—and were four times greater than the usual sales level.

"Loyal players and new players alike were excited about the possibility the Lottery would roll down the jackpot amount to the lower prize levels if there was no single jackpot winner," said Lemons. He attributed the excitement over the possibility of a jackpot roll down with creating the record number of tickets sold for LOTTO. Lemons added that the large volume of sales increased the statistical possibility of having at least one ticket with all six of the numbers drawn. As the Lottery retired the LOTTO game, Lemons thanked the loyal players for their years of support.

"The Delaware Lottery would like the give you all a big 'thank you' because we could not have had 230 jackpot winners and over $117.9 million dollars in prize payouts without your support," Lemons said.

In addition to the one winning ticket there were 48 tickets sold that matched five of the six numbers drawn, representing a $500 prize and 1,951 tickets sold with four of the six numbers selected, which is worth $25 to the ticket holders.

"We encourage the jackpot-winning ticket holder to sign the back of the ticket and seek professional tax and financial advice before coming forward" Lemons said "Lottery tickets are bearer instruments and $7.7 million dollars is a life-changing amount of money."

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than
$1.8 billion to the state’s General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, MULTI-WIN LOTTO, PLAY 3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
