NEW MULTI WIN LOTTO GETS FIRST JACKPOT WINNER

Dover, DE -- Two months following the debut of MULTI-WIN LOTTO, a retired woman from Hockessin is the first to claim a winning jackpot ticket for the new game at the Delaware Lottery Office in Dover. The jackpot for the March 25, 2005 drawing was worth $94,000. She received a check $70,500 which represents her $94,000 jackpot prize minus federal taxes withheld.

The winner, a woman who says she is a frequent Lottery player and who chose to remain anonymous, presented her winning ticket which matched all six numbers across a row. The winning ticket was the result of a Quick Pick sold at the Pathmark located on Kirkwood Highway in Wilmington.

The lucky winner, who is married with children, told Lottery Officials that she found out she had won when she checked the winning numbers in the newspaper. She also said that she has won several times with other Delaware Lottery games but that her MULTI-WIN LOTTO prize is her largest win. She plans to continue to play MULTI-WIN LOTTO after claiming her latest prize.

In addition to the one winning jackpot ticket sold, nine tickets were sold from the same game that matched five of the six numbers drawn to win a $500 prize. Also, 398 tickets were sold with four of the six numbers selected; each of those winners received a $25 prize.

The new MULTI-WIN LOTTO game replaced the LOTTO game, which was retired after the final drawing on January 26, 2005. A jackpot prize worth $52,000 remains unclaimed from the January 31, 2005 MULTI-WIN LOTTO drawing.

Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery has contributed more than
$1.8 billion to the state's General Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®, MULTI-WIN LOTTO, PLAY 3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
