MANY
MORE WAYS TO WIN MILLIONS WITH RECORD-LEVEL
$340 MILLION POWERBALL®
Dover, DE -- The POWERBALL®
jackpot is worth a record $340 million for the Wednesday,
October 19 drawing. The record-breaking jackpot will enable
the Match 5 Bonus rule where match five winners--players who
only match all five white balls--will have a chance of winning
an additional prize amount when the jackpot is won. Currently,
the prize for matching all five white balls (not the red POWERBALL)
is $200,000. Now that the jackpot has surpassed the record,
and each time the jackpot reaches a new record level, jackpots
will begin increasing by $25 million dollars and excess prize
dollars will go into the Match 5 Bonus pool. When the jackpot
is hit, the pool will be evenly divided among match five winners
in addition to the $200,000 prize. The Match 5 Bonus prize
is not multiplied by Power Play®. For details on the Match
5 Bonus prize please visit the Web site of the Multi-State
Lottery Association at http://www.powerball.com/powerball/pb_prizes.asp
The current run of this POWERBALL® run began August 13th
and is presently valued at $340 million. This jackpot is the
fourth largest in the history of POWERBALL® and only the
second jackpot awarded this calendar year over $100 million
if it is won on Wednesday. Delaware has had seven POWERBALL®
jackpot winners and 219 $100,000 winners that have claimed
prizes for a combined total of over $409.9 million.
The previous record jackpot for POWERBALL is $314 million
for the December 24, 2002 drawing.
Since the start of operations in 1975, the Delaware Lottery
has contributed more than $2.1 billion to the state's General
Fund to help finance needed state services that benefit everyone
in Delaware. The Lottery offers a variety of games: POWERBALL®,
MULTI-WIN LOTTO, PLAY 3, PLAY 4, and assorted Instant Games.
