Megahits™ Jackpot Gets Hit Again;
Maryland Man Wins $255,433

Dover, DE - October 22, 2013 - A 52-year-old classic car dealer from Owings, MD, is Delaware’s latest MegaHits™ progressive video lottery game winner. The lucky man hit the MegaHits™ jackpot at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino on Sunday, October 13, at approximately 8:13 a.m., winning a total of $255,433. As permitted by Delaware Law, the man chose to remain anonymous.

This is the second time that the MegaHits™ jackpot has been won in Delaware at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino this year. A 53-year-old woman from Clayton, DE, hit the jackpot on July 27. This marks the fourth jackpot win since the multi-state progressive MegaHits™ game was first introduced at casinos in Delaware, Rhode Island and West Virginia in July 2011. The first jackpot won was at Delaware Park Casino in October 2012 and paid $1.5 million to one lucky player. The second jackpot won was at Twin River Casino in Rhode Island just one month later (November 2012) and paid $113,409.

“We’re fortunate to be on a lucky streak with MegaHits™,” said Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. “This is the third time the jackpot has been won in Delaware in the past two years. These jackpot wins show players that they can have winning experiences at our casinos and we hope it encourages them to continue to play here.”

The MegaHits™ winner claimed his prize at Lottery headquarters on October 17. He told Lottery Officials he had a premonition something was going happen, that the machine was going to hit.

“I couldn’t believe I hit the jackpot though,” he recalled. “I thought I won a small amount.”

When he realized his good fortune, he sat in disbelief while casino officials went to find his wife who was playing a video lottery machine nearby.

“She was extremely, extremely excited,” the lucky man said of his wife when she realized what had happened.

The couple visits Dover Downs once a month to play for entertainment. The couple prefers playing the progressive machines and occasionally plays table games.

“My wife likes to play more than I do,” he said. “I go along for the ride. But I’m really glad I joined her this time!”

When asked what they plan to do with the money, the couple told Lottery Officials that they’d use the winnings to beef up their retirement nest egg and pay for their 23-year-old daughter’s master’s degree.
