MEGA MILLIONS® Jackpot Rolls To $353 Million For Friday's Drawing

Dover, DE - March 12, 2014 – The MEGA MILLIONS® estimated annuity jackpot rolled from $309 million to $353 million Tuesday evening (March 11) after no jackpot-winning tickets were sold. The winning numbers for Tuesday's drawing were 9, 14, 56, 57, 69, 10 and the MEGA BALL was 4. The next drawing will be held this Friday evening, March 14, at 11 p.m. with tickets available for purchase up until 9:45 p.m.

This is the fifth-largest estimated annuity jackpot in the history of the MEGA MILLIONS game, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL). As excitement builds for Friday's drawing, the Delaware Lottery is urging responsible play among players and reminding players that the odds of winning a MEGA MILLIONS jackpot prize are approximately 1-in-258 million and that players should play within their means.

’The month of March is National Problem Gambling Awareness Month and what more appropriate time to urge players to play responsibly, especially when such a large jackpot is waiting to be won,” said Delaware Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. ’We want our players to enjoy lottery games for the excitement they bring, but to also take into account their own financial situation. What everyone can personally afford differs. A good rule of thumb is to play for fun and know your limits,” said Kirk.

The current MEGA MILLIONS jackpot has been on the rise since it was last hit on January 3, 2014. If the $353 million jackpot is won this Friday, the winner could opt for a cash payout of $194 million.

In October of last year, MEGA MILLIONS was enhanced to offer bigger, faster-growing jackpots, and better overall odds of winning a prize. The game now features a $15 million starting jackpot and the overall odds of winning any MEGA MILLIONS prize improved from 1 in 40 to 1 in 14.71, allowing for an estimated three times as many winners. Additionally, jackpots grow more quickly, increasing by at least $5 million in drawings where there are no tickets matching all six numbers. The new MEGA MILLIONS also includes a 5X Megaplier® in addition to existing the 2X, 3X, and 4X levels for the chance to win up to $5 million. MEGA MILLIONS® tickets sell for $1 per game and with the Megaplier option MEGA MILLIONS costs $2 per game.
