DELAWARE LOTTERY SETS NEW RECORD IN SALES FOR TRADITIONAL GAMES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2014Dover, Del. — July 18, 2014 – The Delaware Lottery today announced record sales in Fiscal Year 2014 (year ending June 30, 2014) for its traditional games products. In its 40th year of operations, total sales for Fiscal Year 2014 were $148,354,564, which represents a 2.71% increase from Fiscal Year 2013. Traditional game products are composed of lottery favorites POWERBALL® and MEGA MILLIONS®, as well as HOT LOTTO®, DELAWARE CASH 5®, MULTI-WIN LOTTO, PLAY3, PLAY4, Instant Games and Keno. The previous sales record was set in Fiscal Year 1999 at $145.86 million. "The success we achieved in Fiscal Year 2014 is the outcome of the groundwork laid over the past few years," said Lottery Director Vernon Kirk. "The enhancement of our product portfolio and expansion of our Retailer network proved effective in driving sales. We will continue to look for new ways to offer products and winning experiences that our players want in an effort to build a better gaming future in Delaware." Sales have been climbing since Fiscal Year 1994, more than 20 years ago, when the Delaware Lottery broke $100 million in annual sales. This past fiscal year’s success can be attributed in part to a record sales year for INSTANT GAMES (more than $50 million and a 6.8% increase from Fiscal Year 2013) and the exceptional performance of MEGA MILLIONS®. As authorized in the Gaming Competitiveness Act of 2012, the addition of Keno to the product line in Fiscal Year 2013 has been well received by players and also contributed to the overall increase in Fiscal Year 2014 sales. Finally, the Lottery Retailer network expansion between 2011 and 2014 (from 535 retailers to 655 to date) was key factor contributing to the overall sales success.
