Saturday’s POWERBALL® Jackpot Climbs to Record High, $700 MillionThe Delaware Lottery Encourages Players to Play Responsibly (DOVER, DE) — With no POWERBALL® jackpot winner from the Wednesday, January 6, drawing, the jackpot has reached an estimated annuity jackpot of $700 million—a new record for POWERBALL® and the largest jackpot of any Lottery game in U.S. history, according to Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) officials. If the $700 million jackpot is won this Saturday, the winner could opt for a cash option payout of $428.4 million. This is the 19th drawing since the most recent POWERBALL® grand prize winner on November 4, 2015. The winning numbers from Wednesday’s non-winning jackpot drawing were 2, 11, 47, 62 and 63. The POWERBALL® number was 17 and the Power Play® number was 3. Although the jackpot remains, more than seven million players won more than $65.9 million in cash prizes. “When jackpots grow to record sizes, we ask players to remember the most important goals of the Delaware Lottery—to provide a form entertainment and to generate dollars for vital programs in our state,” said Vernon Kirk, Director, Delaware Lottery. The Delaware Lottery joins other lotteries across the country in support of responsible play by emphasizing that the odds of winning a POWERBALL® jackpot prize are 1 in 292 million. The overall odds of winning any prize are 1 in 25. Nationally, POWERBALL® has produced 316 second-tier winners of $1 million or $2 million in the past year. “People are naturally drawn by the thrill of winning a jackpot of this magnitude,” adds Kirk. “We strongly remind players to spend only what they can afford and to play within their means.” POWERBALL® tickets sell for $2 per game, and with the Power Play® option POWERBALL® costs $3 per game.
