POWERBALL® Rolls to Fifth-Largest Jackpot—$478 MillionThe Delaware Lottery Encourages the Community to Play Responsibly (DOVER, DE) — The excitement for the POWERBALL® continues to climb along with the jackpot, with players having an opportunity to win an estimated annuity jackpot of $478 million ($330.6 million cash payout) this Saturday night, July 30. The jackpot was reached after the Wednesday, July 27 drawing, when no ticket sold matched all six numbers drawn: 10, 47, 50, 65 and 68—plus the POWERBALL® number (24) and the Power Play® number (2). Saturday night’s drawing will be the 24th drawing since the most recent POWERBALL® grand prize was won on May 7, and will give players an opportunity to win the fifth-largest jackpot in the game’s history and the eighth-largest jackpot in North America, according to Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) officials. The Delaware Lottery joins lotteries across the country in encouraging people to play responsibly. “As POWERBALL® mania sweeps through the nation, the Delaware Lottery wants to remind players that games are designed to be fun, low-cost forms of entertainment, with the added benefit of helping to support state services,” said Vernon Kirk, director of the Delaware Lottery. “We encourage friendly competition, but also to set a personal limit—so you aren’t chasing your losses.” Although the jackpot remains, more than 1 million players have won more than $9.5 million in cash prizes. The overall odds of winning any POWERBALL® prize are 1 in 24.9, and the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292 million. Tickets sell for $2 per game; the Power Play® option costs $1 per game.
